Asset Tagger

The Asset Tagger functionality causes the system to automatically number assets when they are created, ensuring that all asset numbers are unique and that asset numbering standards are adhered to across an installation.

Asset Tagger functionality must be properly configured by the system administrator on the Asset Configuration Options page.

Once the Asset Tagger has been enabled, the system will not allow an asset number to be entered when an asset is created; the number will be automatically generated.

The asset number assigned will be in the following format:

<asset tag>-<index>, where:

<asset tag> – The asset tag provides a reference to the asset class. This value is set up on the Asset Class administrative page when the asset class is created.

<index> – The index is a unique number preceded by leading zeros.

For example, the AHU-0000102 asset number might be automatically generated for an air handling unit and the Mobile-000036 asset number might be generated for a cellular phone.

Users and system administrators that have Asset Administrator security rights can override the asset tagger and enter an asset number when creating an asset or edit an existing asset number.
